SMOKE STARTS TO APPEAR FROM ROOF OF APARTMENT
PRIVATE BARNS WRAPPING TOWEL AROUND HIS BLOODIED ARM
HIDES TRIAC BEHIND REFRIGERATOR
EMERGENCY CREWS ARRIVE AND START KNOCKING ON DOOR
PRIVATE BARNS ANSWERS
"Hey guys, what's up?"
FIRE CHIEF
"Why don't you tell me, sir?"

"Ah, I think I had a gas leak and it exploded...I'm not really sure..."
PARAMEDIC

HE INSPECTS THE ARMS, STARTS TO PUT SOME SUAVE ON THE CUTS, WITH AN ACE BANDAGE WRAP

"This is indicative of powder burns, what were you doing soldier...frying a goat, cooking meth, making bullets, what?"

"Like I say sir, I think it was a gas leak..."
FIRE CHIEF
"Be kind of hard to have a gas leak, since this apartment is all electric...you want to explain what's going on, cause the explosions are scattered all over the structure?"
BARNS
"Scattered sir?"

"Yea...scattered, as in several distinct places...how did this happen?"

Look, you got me, I just got back from my assignment sir...I really don't know what to tell you...maybe it was static electricity?"

INT: LOS ALAMO'S RESEARCH CENTER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BASE, GENERAL HALL, LIEUTENANT ED CRUM, AND THE GUARDS, OBLIVIOUS OF THE EXPLOSION AT PRIVATE BARN'S APARTMENT, GO OVER SURVEILLANCE TAPE OF HALLWAY LEADING UP TO DOCTOR MOREY'S OFFICE WHERE THE TRIACS ARE BEING STORED

"General Sir, I recognize this soldier coming up the hall with some files..."
GENERAL HALL
"No kidding, that's Private Barns...my assistant...carrying around some paperwork...he must have been looking for me?"
LIEUTENANT ED CRUM
"Looks like that wasn't all he was doing...went in the room with the Triacs, and took off pretty quick...really quick!"

"Where does Barns live?"
LIEUTENANT CRUM
"We have him assigned to apartment fifty-two sir!"

TEN MINUTES LATER AFTER CROSSING BASE IN GUARDS JEEP, THEY ARRIVE AT PRIVATE BARNS QUARTERS, SEE THAT IT HAS SOME WANING SMOKE COMING FROM ROOF
THEY APPROACH, ONLY TO BE MET BY FIRE CHIEF
"General...don't know what's gotten into that boy...can't figure out what he's been doing, but he has several areas of this apartment which have had some major explosions, and he can't answer for it...I suggest you go talk to him!"
GENERAL HALL
"Oh yea, I'll talk to him all right...throw his butt out on his tush and feed him to the Coyotes!"
AS HALL STARTS TO OPEN THE DOOR, HE SEE'S PRIVATE BARNS JUST STANDING THERE HOLDING TRIAC
BARNS
"Hold it right there General, and who ever else is out there, just hold what you got and don't do anything stupid..."
GENERAL HALL
"Look boy, don't be playing around with that thing...someone could get hurt!"
BARNS
"Really now, what is this thing anyway?"
GENERAL HALL
"What's the point son, you already knows what it does...you took it and have possession of it, and your ass is in a whole lot of hot water right now, so let's do the right thing and just hand it over, you understand me?"

"Keep away from me, I'll push this button, we can all go boom...hey, guard...why don't you hand over those weapons you have on and I can make my way out of here...I don't know what's going on here, but I have a feeling, that this little guy must be worth a mint to somebody?"
GUARD RELUCTANTLY LAYS HIS GUN DOWN
JUST AS HE DOES, TWO MORE GUARDS SHOW UP IN ANOTHER JEEP
PRIVATE BARNS GRABS WEAPON OFF GROUND AND STARTS SCREAMING
"Everybody...you all better listen to me...I'm leaving out of here, and if you don't want to get zapped by this...this...what ever the hell this thing is, just freeze!
GUARDS BEHIND JEEP, WHO IS UNAWARE OF WHAT THE TRIAC DOES, TRIES TO TAKE A SHOTS AT PRIVATE BARNS
BARNS DUCKS, DROPPING WEAPON WHILE ENERGIZING THE TRIAC
BOTH GUARDS ARE IMPLODED BY THEIR OWN WEAPONS, KILLING THE INSTANTLY
PRIVATE BARNS SEE'S THE CARNAGE, JUMPS IN THEIR JEEP, AND TAKES OFF FOR THE FRONT GATE
BARNS YELLING AT EVERYONE
"You better tell them I'm coming out, cause I have things to do, places to go, and people to meet, you hear me?"
GENERAL HALL
"Boy has completely lost his mind...he won't get far!"
LIEUTENANT ED CRUM CALLING ON PHONE
"I know what to do...hey Sargent...got a run away here...scramble me an F-16, and take care of the little awol a-hole...heading east bound in one of our jeeps, wearing jean and bandages...just take care of it won't you?"
SARGENT ON PHONE

"Well we'll be less a device, but at least he won't be spewing the news to what it is!

JET SWOOPS BY, HEADING OUT TOWARD DESERT
PILOT QUICKLY CATCHES UP TO JEEP AND DECIDES TO GIVE HIM A WARNING MISSILE, HE SHOOTS, AND THE MISSILE BLOWS UP TO THE SIDE OF THE JEEP BARNS IS DRIVING
PILOT NOT KNOWING ABOUT TRIAC EITHER, STARTS TO PASS OVER BARNS TO LOOP AROUND, WHEN BARNS ACTIVATES THE TRIAC
ALL THE JETS ARMAMENTS GO OFF, BLOWING THE JET INTO A MILLION PIECES
PRIVATE BARNS STARTS LAUGHING INSIDIOUSLY
"You bastards, nobody's gonna stop me now...nobody, ha, ha ha!"
