Nuddy Buddy

Nuddy Buddy

Just a thought on a legendary K-9, that against all odds...went from born runt to status symbol.

Personality would have been his greatest attribute, but he was curious, had his own little way of showing off and making a room come to life, always brought a smile to all that came within touching distance. Point being, he was like no other animal I can remember.

Having Craig around was no failed accident, as invariably his fantastic gourmet fare would find it's way to Buddy's intestinal tract, through finding special treats in his bowl, something that might have fell to the floor at the table, or more than likely, a loving father sharing his  good meal with a special friend. That might explain why the gifted dog didn't seem to have any problem living beyond most of his type.

I'll try to keep this short, as I wanted to mention something that happened this morning, and although I'll get around to posting a more endearing eulogy, I wanted members of what was left of our family to hear this while it's still fresh!

A lady (who wished to remain unnamed), is like a professional psychic to well bred animals to the stars. At least the one's in New York who have the coin to figure out why their pet squirrel or pure-bred collie are having anxiety attacks?"

She lives down a couple of flats down in SoHo and although I didn't have the regular $200 an hour she usually charges, I bought her a few beers instead...just to see what would happen?

After a pause, she looked at some shiny rocks on the table, tossed them around a couple of times, then held the temples of her forehead for about 5 minutes.
I took this moment to order another round of Amber Bock...couldn't wait to see where this was going to end up?

Suddenly, she began to shudder, mouthing some gibberish I couldn't understand, then she came out of her psychic cloud and be-spelled something that just floored me...

"She just said, "Buddy, the dog of which you speak, is spinning for a dearly missed Loved one...one that was close to everyone's heart...including those in the immediate family."

I didn't know where to go with her insistence, so I questioned for a deeper vision?

She paused for a second, then out of the blue...she just said, "I'm seeing a Bette, did you know a Bette...she's smiling...Buddy's spinning for her...does that make sense?"

I teared up and thanked her for her time, got up and left...
I'm sure that if Kat and Craig are reading this, they can fill in the rest.

In spirit, Buddy found his purpose...pretty cool!

  1. Thank you for your remembrace of our Nuddy Buddy. The loss is still so raw...always looking for him or thinking we here him. I asked Mom to be there for him and now I know she was. He was the coolest dog and I know I will see him again. Thanks for sharing your experience.. Love, Kat

    1. All in all, it was his unassuming spirit which always captivated the room.
I guess I could say that other than Samantha and Lorie, (Dad's best friend Tigger), and perhaps a few dozen fish friends...he just seemed so human, like he never really knew he was a dog to begin with. I often wondered if he thought we were the one's who were different? Be good Kat...he's watching over you!
